Friday, May 6th the 4th-6th grade class took another trip to Chico State. This time the lab was on plate tectonics. The class has been studying about Earthquakes and why they happen. They also learned about continental drifts, and how volcanoes are formed.

On Tuesday March 2nd our school celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday with a bang! We brought our PJ's, pillows, and books to school. The kids all read books, did activities, and learned more about the author. We also had a few surprise visitors that came in to read Dr. Seuss stories to us.

Andy Goldsworthy Art with Nature

A few weeks ago when we thought it might be spring again the 4-6 class made a trip to the river. The purpose of the trip was to create art in the style of Andy Goldsworthy. To do this you need to be very creative with your surroundings. No glue or nails are allowed in the sculpture. The sculptures turned out fantastic. Here are a few of the creations.

Mud Hut Field Trip

The K-3 class went on a fieldtrip to The Mud Hut in Grass Valley. We learned how to score, roll, and mold clay. We made snowman tea light holders and learned about the different kinds of art, while taking a tour of the beautiful art gallery. Our snowmen turned out amazing! September 24, 2010 the Environmental Science class and the K-12 grades collaborated to enhance the natural beauty of the environment by collecting rubbish from the banks of the Yuba River. Emergency Preparedness Week

Water Day

The whole school's Water Day was a success. The 7-12th grades went to Collins Lake, while the K-6 grades stayed behind and played on the water slide. A visit from the fire truck made it all worth it!! A Wonderful last day of school! Have a great summer and see you next year!

Pennies 4 Peace

The elementary school has been collecting pennies. Why you ask? The penny collecting started after one class read a book Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson. Click on the link above to learn more about this book. The K-2 and 3-6 classes both collected over $150 worth of pennies! The pennies help build schools and buy school supplies for students in Afghanistan.

Forest/Fire Science Class Fieldtrip

Fieldtrip: 49 fire in Auburn About the fire: The 49 fire occurred in Auburn California, on August 30, 2009 at 2:22 pm. It burned 343 acres total. The 5th and 6th grade Headlands Trip was AMAZING!! The classes hiked all around the Golden Gate National Recreation area.
